It was the vision of Mr. Antonio
L. Aldeguer that created ALA Boxing
Gym and propelled its boxers to
unprecedented heights in
international boxing history. A
respected businessman and boxing
patron, Aldeguer devoted much of his
life in promoting boxing in the
Philippines as a gentlemanly sports
that can be avenues for professional
stardom and for ultimate physical
fitness. His reputation in the local
boxing scene earned him the respect
as the “Godfather of Cebu Boxing.”
US-based sports columnist Homer Sayson accurately expressed the
general respect towards the man:
“ALA was born with a pair of black,
leather boxing gloves on. He has
produced countless champions and the
personal resources he has spent for
the sport is more than the gross
national product of Cuba.
ALA was
sent by the heavens to help boxers
fulfill their dreams. His is a
personal crusade that is endless.”
In the continued rise of Filipinos
in the international professional
boxing scene, you can always count
that the ALA Boys will always be
there…and Mr. Antonio L. Aldeguer so
much behind them, pushing them
onward to their dreams.
