A YEAR ago, 19-year-old prospect Juren Labordo suffered his first career defeat via a seventh round stoppage in the hands of Jaymart Toyco.

He has a chance to avenge that loss when he takes on his tormentor in a rematch in the main event of Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing on Dec. 18 at the Bgy. Katilingban Gym in Molo, Iloilo City.

Toyco dropped Labordo once in the second round of their first meeting before finishing him off in the seventh round of their Dec. 7 match last year in Dumaguete City.

Since that defeat, Labordo went 2-1 this year with wins over Ryan Tampus and JP Macadumpis and a loss to Fernando Ocon.

The 22-year-old Toyco, who is a former interim Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) flyweight champion, is on a losing slump with back-to-back defeats to Giovanni Escaner and Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana.

Labordo is 13-2 with eight knockouts, while Toyco is 14-6 with 10 knockouts.

In the main supporting bout, unbeaten Arjan Canillas (8-0-2, 6 KOs) slugs it out with battle-scarred Royroy Sumugat (9-10-1, 3 KOs) in an eight-rounder.
