IBO junior featherweight world champion Thabo Sonjica (19-2, 14 KOs) was advised to make his hands full on Saturday night when he puts his title on the line against Filipino challenger Roli Gasca (22-4-1, 6 KOs) in Kempton Park, South Africa.
Promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves Promotions reminded Sonjica about Gasca’s most recent three-straights.
He told Sonjica that the 25-year old from Barili, Cebu would not be pushover.
“In many ways this could be a make-or-break fight for Sonjica,” Sowetanlive.co.za quoted Berman as saying in a report dated Aug. 6.
“A victory and an impressive performance at the Emperors Palace hotbed of South African boxing and the sky could be the limit for him. But in what is probably the biggest fight of his career, he’ll have to provide the goods.”
The schedule 12-round fight will be in the undercard of the collision between South Africa’s Rayno Liebenberg and Russian Denis Grachev for the World Boxing Council silver light-heavyweight title at at Emperors Palace.
