WBO APPOINTS MAYWEATHER-COTTO REFEREE TONY WEEKS FOR BANAL VS SORSINGYU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The office of the World Boxing Organization headed by Paco Valcarcel has assigned the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto referee Tony weeks to referee the WBO World Bantamweight Championship between WBO World # 1 and # 2 AJ “Bazooka” Banal of the Philippines and Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand.
WBO President Valcarcel through Diana Melendez’s email sent the official communication to the ALA Promotions office Tuesday September 25, 2012 stated that the 423 fight veteran Weeks will be refereeing the Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World headliner.
With the appointment were the rest of the WBO officials assigned to work the WBO World Bantamweight Championship namely judge Robert Hoyle of Henderson, NV, Judge Levi Martinez of Las Cruces, NM and Judge Raul Caiz, Jr.. Supervising the fight will be WBO VP International/Asia-Pacific/Oriental Leon Panoncillo.
Weeks is a veteran of 47 world title fights, 3 of them female world championships has refereed marquee PPV match-ups like the Pacquiao-Marque 2011, Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo and recently the Sergio Martinez vs Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. title fight weeks back.
Tony Weeks and the rest of the WBO officials for the Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs the World scheduled on October 20, 2012 at the new SM Mall Of Asia ARENA will be arriving during the fight week as advised by ALA Promotions.
