Boom Boom Bautista to be Tested Anew
IBF International Featherweight title holder Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista of the Philippines will be tested anew as he is scheduled to defend his IBF title against Mexican undefeated knock-out machine in Miguel Angel Mendoza W 17(KO 17) L 0.
Bautista W 31 (KO23) L 2 D 0 who is fresh from victory over former tormentor Heriberto Ruiz last June 11 will be defending his IBF International Featherweight belt for the first time against Mendoza on December 10, 2011 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City, Philippines.
Mendoza who sports an almost immaculate record of W 17 with 17 by way of knock-out has not been defeated in all of his professional fights. He has knocked out all his opponents in less than five rounds.
Mendoza is one of Mexico’s more active fighters having fought six times already since September of last year. He has KO’d all six in less tat five rounds A very intimidating record that any fighter should take note of.
Boom Boom on the other hand continues his come back trail from numerous injuries before his first loss as he has been sidelined by a collarbone, a wrist and just recently a foot injury. Bautista though is determined as he says he has matured and is very much focused after witnessing his compatriot Donnie Nietes win his second division world title.
“I am truly inspired by Donnie after he won his second title. He showed me that it takes more than skills and strength to win. He showed me how to dig deep to win and he showed me how heart wins fights.” said Bautista in his native tongue.
As for ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer after talks around that this is a very dangerous match-up, Aldeguer said “For Boom Boom and for us to know that he belongs to the big leagues, he first must pass tests and one of them is this test against Mendoza. We now know that Boom Boom is dying to get a rematch with De Leon but we can not look past Mendoza who is perfect in knocking out opponents. This is going to be his biggest test.”
The Bautista vs Mendoza tiff will be the main feature of PINOY PRIDE 10 that is brought to you by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports. Undercards include fast rising Azukal Servania and reigning OPBF Flyweight Champion Rocky Fuentes both from the Philippines.
