ALA Promotions Sign Romeo “Jako” Jakosalem
As part of one of the main thrusts of the Philippines leader in boxing promotions, ALA Promotions immediately went to work giving an OPBF title shot for the Davao, Philippines native on the scheduled mega-boxing card PINOY PRIDE 10 that is headlined by Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista on December 10, 2011 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines.
Jakosalem who started out his career training under the ALA Gym tutelage but broke away has been given a second lease in life as ALA Promotions gave him a fight in one of the PINOY PRIDE mega boxing shows March of this year when he met then undefeated prospect from Canada Steve “The Dragon” Clagget.
The Jakosalem vs Clagget feature was the hands down favorite fight of the night as Clagget started pounding Jakosalem’s body from the get go flooring the Filipino twice in the third round.
Jakosalem though beat the count both times and now sensing he was behind in the scorecards made a comeback connecting combinations to the head coupled with great bodywork.
Jako then doubled up on the body of the visiting Canadian in the eighth round wearing down his opponent prompting the referee to stop the contest in the 1:28 mark of the final round, a rabbit out of the hat performance that sent the crowd jumping out of their seats.
Since that win, Romeo Jakosalem won his last four fights via KO. His last win was over Eusebio Baluarte for the Philippine light welterweight title.
ALA Promotions plans to give more breaks for the aspiring Jakosalem abroad and in national promotions. According to ALA Promotions executives, they plan to have Jakosalem active in the coming 2012.
Jakosalem joins Filipino prospects Rommel Asenjo, the undefeated KO machine Lorenzo Villanueva, Edrin Dapudong, Arthur “El Matador” Villanueva, the newly crowned OPBF Champ Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo and two-time world champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan in the ALA Promotions roster of fighters.
