African, Mexican Ring Warriors Public Workout Today

Loyal boxing fans will have another chance to watch the foreign fighters of Pinoy Pride 9 in the flesh today, October 5, at the SM City Bacolod as ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports have set the stage for the second part of their promotional event.

The public workout today will be led by Ramon “Principe” Garcia, who will be making his first defense of the WBO World Light Flyweight title in the Philippines, a country far from the Latin American Region where he fought since making his debut in 2007.

Garcia has the heart of a true warrior, and is determined to win this fight against Nietes. In fact, he came to Cebu weeks before his scheduled arrival so he can get used to the time zone and climate.

On that day, Garcia will be accompanied by fellow Mexican Mario “Maca” Briones, a knockout artist undefeated in 21 bouts set for his second fight outside of his home country. His first match outside of Mexico was in France. He faced Gerardo Martinez Montano.

This time, the reigning WBC FECOMBOX Super Bantamweight champion is challenging the reigning WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight titlist: AJ “Bazooka” Banal in the latter’s home country.

The tour will not be complete without Shaabani “The Black Panther” Madilu, an African warrior who just came out of a second round TKO victory against Ramadhan Kumbele.

The event starts at 5 PM.

PINOY PRIDE 9: WBO WORLD LIGHTFLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP is proudly presented to you by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports. This event is also supported by Cobra Tunay na Lakas Energy Drink, SM City Bacolod, Palmas del Mar Bacolod, L’ Fisher Hotel, East View Hotel, Bascon Hotel, Bacolod Pavilion Hotel, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group, Skycable, KIA Motors, 888 Chinatown Mall, the City Government of Bacolod, and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
