Pinoy Pride 9 Public Sparring @ 888 Chinatown Mall Bacolod
The 9th installment of Pinoy Pride is drawing near, and the ALA Gym fighters are certainly ready for their respective matches. Today, September 18, marks the second among many more scheduled promotional tours aimed at campaigning their next blockbuster bouts.
A public sparring session will be held at the 888 Chinatown Mall and will feature their hometown hero Donnie “Ahas” Nietes. He will be showcasing his wares to his fellow Negrenses and hopefully prove to them that he is indeed ready for his next title fight.
He is scheduled to challenge Ramon “Principe” Garcia for the WBO World Lightflyweight crown. This upcoming match will be a world championship battle held in Philippine soil.
Garcia is a tough opponent who boasts victories against familiar faces in the said division like Omar Soto, Manuel Vargas, and Jesus Geles. He will be Nietes’ second opponent in another division—next to Armando Vasquez.
Ahas will be accompanied by fellow ALA Gym boxer AJ “Bazooka” Banal, the reigning WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion. He will be defending his title against the undefeated KO artist Mario “Maca” Briones on fight night.
Other hometown heroes Arthur Villanueva and Merlito Sabillo will also be sparring and fighting in Bacolod and hopefully prove their place in the sport. Come October 8, the former will be trading gloves with his first foreign opponent in Shaaban Madilu, a Kenyan. The latter, on the other hand, will be fighting for the OPBF minimumweight crown against a fellow Pinoy, Rodel Tejares Singwancha.
Rookie boxers who are hoping to become the next superstars will also be present in the said event to show fans the fruits of their training.
The PINOY PRIDE mega boxing series is a brainchild of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports to showcase the best of what the Philippines can offer to the world
