Pinoy Pride 9 Bacolod Grand Media and Fans Day
ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports are proud to present boxing superstars in a grand media and fans day today, September 17, at the SM City Bacolod.
Various globally-recognized media will be present to witness yet another event organized by the top boxing promotions company in the Philippines.
They will be promoting the next installment of Pinoy Pride scheduled on October 8, a month after the highly successful battle between two countries sharing a passion for boxing.
Once the bell rings, the Philippines will then be witness to the first WBO World Lightflyweight Championship match featuring the hometown hero, Donnie “Ahas” Nietes.
Nietes is a notable champion in the minimumweight division. He has held the same title belt for five years, making him one of the longest-reigning Filipino boxing champions. Not only that, he has successfully defended it in foreign territory three times.
He has advanced in his career and proved his worth in the lightflyweight division when he knocked out Armando Vasquez in the first round. His next opponent will be the reigning WBO World Lightflyweight Champion, Ramon Hirales Garcia.
The next installment of Pinoy Pride will also feature boxing superstar AJ “Bazooka” Banal, the reigning WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight champion. He earned the title when he defeated Big Yoo back in 2010 and successfully defended it twice against Francis Miyeyusho and Tyson Cave.
He will be facing the undefeated Mario Briones in October before he will have a rematch with Rafael Concepcion.
Boxers from Bacolod will also be stepping into the ring hoping to prove that they indeed have what it takes to become the next superstars. Merlito Sabillo will be facing Rodel Tejares Singwancha for the currently vacant OPBF minimumweight championship. Arthur Villanueva will be facing his first foreign opponent in Shaaban Madilu, a Kenyan.
ALA Promotions has prepared a lot of events for fans to meet and greet the prize fighters.
The Pinoy Pride boxing mega-series is a brainchild of ALA Promotions in collaboration with ABS-CBN Sports and is intended to display not only the Filipino boxing prowess but also showcase the best the Philippines has to offer to the world.
